We have now at the end of October and so two things are very clear, the winter is officially on the door and the annual Movember also. Already Tuesday next week it starts with this. And do not worry – you have not missed that November was replaced as the eleventh month of the year. Rather, he was given an additional importance over thirteen years ago.
In 2003, Movember was launched by a group of young men in Adelaide, and since then, a variety of “Movember” events have focused attention on men’s health. In particular, the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer and testicular cancer is the focus of Movembers.
But also the research of depression and bipolar disorder are promoted. Because even these two diseases are common in far more men than you initially think, but these are under diagnosed and never or just treated too late.
Mo … what?
Why is Movember now called Movember? The naming is due to the fact that men for the good cause leave a mustache, which strengthens public awareness of men’s health. Movember is therefore made up of the English words mustache and November. Not so hard.
However, since my beard growth is not enough, that I can leave a beard in Movember – let alone my mustache – I am grateful that the captain of the German national handball team, Uwe Gensheimer, is setting a good example. Because my mustache would probably have to be grown from December of the previous year to look somewhat for something.
Uwe Gensheimer is leading by example …
Wilkinson Sword, official partner of the Movember Foundation , supports the charity organization in cooperation with the DKB Handball Bundesliga and collects donations for a good cause. The idea of using such a well-known personality as Uwe Gensheimer for this year’s Movember campaign was understandable. So Uwe gets a “Mo” for the good cause and is at the same time official testimonial of this year’s Movember campaign by Wilkinson Sword.
Before we go into how Uwe styled his “Mo” perfectly, I was glad that he was asked an interview question, which I could think of. And I tell you, it was not easy to find a question that would seem appropriate for such an interview. So I was very grateful that my wife, a big fan of handball, lived near Friedrich Uwe Gensheimer’s first venue, the Lilli Graves Hall in Friedrichsfeld. That’s why the question was pretty quickly found:
“Do you remember the Lilli graves hall in Friedrichsfeld and your first games on the ground?”
What he answered that you look at yourself best …
The perfect “Mo” and the Wilkinson Handball Mo’tivation Network
Wilkinson is not only since Movember beginning, in Germany as an official partner at the start, but this year also presents an exclusive Movember Edition of the HYDRO razor, which brings all Mos in the best shape. Responsible for this is the unique gel reservoir that reduces irritation and redness. The flip trimmer of the HYDRO razor ensures precise contours. In the exclusive Movember Edition this comes with two free blades. So now we also know how Uwe Gensheimer gets his Mo in shape and style.
But Wilkinson is not only an expert on mustaches of all kinds, but brings together in this Movember clubs, players and fans together. All in order to strengthen the team spirit for the good cause. Under the slogan “Get Your Mo’tivation Here!” A Movember network is offered, in which one can join as an existing team or single member. Through social networks, members can then draw attention to the topic of men’s health.
The best way to do this is to use the hashtag #wilkinsonhandballmotivation or invite your friends directly into the Movember network, so they can also promote the good cause. You can easily join: go to the following link, register and you’re done!
