Let’s divide the differences between Low Fade vs High Fade vs. Mid split haircuts .
The low fade rejuvenates the hair the shortest around the hairline, while the middle fade goes up by a few inches. Both are also drop-fades, as the line of the fade falls behind the ear in an arc that follows the hairline and neck.
The high fade usually follows a line that goes straight back from the front edge. Unlike the one-length undercut, which has a similar profile, the fade becomes shorter as it moves across the head, sometimes down to the skin. The shorter part of a high fade follows the fade line. Still confused? Just look at the pictures.
Why should you cross the other one? Looks really. It just depends on what look you prefer. All of them trim their hair short around the sides and back, so the low fade is no more work than the medium or high fade.
The bigger question is whether you want to fade a skin or fade shadows. The skin, or bald, fades, rejuvenates hair down to the skin. The shadow fades from short hair at the hairline to even shorter hair at the neckline.
Any length or style of fading may be added to your favorite longer on top, short sides and back hairstyle. Look at these pictures for a few faded and hairstyle combinations.
1. Low fade haircut
The low fade is exactly what it sounds like – a taper within an inch or two of the hairline. It can also be referred to as drop-fade, as the line falls behind the ear. This slight bald fading lifts the hairline for an ultra-clean cut that will look great.
2. Low fade with a beard
Here’s the little fading out of the page. It cuts the temples to short the ears and neck, creating a different line than the actual hairline. This is the best way to fade with a beard.
3. Medium fade hairstyle
As expected, the middle fade lands somewhere between the low and high fade. It also fades a drop, the temples short and arches cut to the back of the head at the back of the head. This middle fading goes down to the skin at the hairline, but the rejuvenation starts in the middle of the head.
4. High bald fading
Unlike the drop fade, the high fade follows a straight line from the hairline around the back of the head. The fade starts high with a small drop when it hits the skin to give some shape to this ultra short high and tight.
5. High taper fade
Here is another way to wear the high fade. Again, the hair is longer and the short hair is straight cut. This version goes down the skin around the hairline.
