Introducing Chelo The Barber of Queens New York!
1) How did you get barbering?
I was in the kitchen, 12 years old, and on walks, my mom is getting expensive with a pair of clipper talking about my cleaning habits. Well, she came up with a solution. She thinks she saves money, and she did not know that she just did it and started my career. I grabbed the cutting machines and came straight to it. This hair will not cut.
If you wait for a hairdresser, you go back to a few tricks. I am self-taught. I just did what my hairdresser did. Soon I also formed my brothers and friends.
I made it official and visited the Atlas Academy, which is no longer around, sad to say. Nevertheless, I have learned more techniques and styles that help my career. In this industry you are always reinventing yourself and improving it. Keeps you sharp.
2) What do you like most as a barber?
Barbering has saved me in so many ways. Barbering gave me a true respect for the craft, for the crush. Above all, it is provided; for me, for my family.
I had the opportunity to work with all areas of life. Children, celebrities, the sick, all kinds of crowns. Each of them has contributed to my growth and success. I could not be more humble.
3) What is unique in your barbershop?
At the fee hairdressing salon The atmosphere is professional, clean and relaxed. Right in the heart of Queens, Fairy Barbershop will get you in and out of the chair in a NY minute. Our work is precise and the mood is right.
4) What changes have you seen in the barber over the years?
Trends come and go and come back again.
5) Where do you get inspiration from?
My colleagues hairdressers. We all learn from each other. Social media was also a great post platform.
