Longer hair for men has become mainstream and with it came the Man Bun. What is a man’s bun?
Well, it’s a cool alternative to ponytails to pull long hair up and back.
A bun it a twist or a hair bow. It can be worn high on the head, deep in the neck or somewhere in between. There is not just a man-roll, but a number of ways to style the look. For something else, add an undercut, a little fade, or shaved pages.

1. The man’s bun
The Norwegian naval lieutenant and model Lasse Matberg looks like a modern Viking with long hair and full beard. He wears many different hairstyles, but the man’s bun is one of his favorite looks.
2. Jared Leto Manbrötchen
Of all the celebrity male buns, Jared Leto’s has attracted the most attention. He wore the look to several award ceremonies, paired with a beard. This polished version is neatly from the front, has volume in the bun and leaves some hair loose.
3. Leonardo DiCaprio Manbrötchen
Leonardo DiCaprio hugged the man’s bun on every hair length. With only chin length closures, the hair can be pulled back into a small bun. This works even better with an undercut. Here he has just enough length to fold hair into a knot. Use the product to straighten the hair on the front for this formal look.
4th Jason Momoa man rolls
Usually seen with a long ponytail on Game of Thrones, Jason Momoa often wears a man’s bun in real life.
5. Jake Gyllenhaal man rolls
Another celebrity who embraces this hipster style at every hair length, Jake Gyllenhaal rocks a low bun with a full beard.
6. Avan Jogia
The man’s bun is a really versatile long hairstyle that can be casual or formal and can be worn from the gym to the wedding. Of course, the styling varies along the way. This messy look that Avan Jogia has seen is ultra-cool and works just as well with his wavy hair as with straight curls.
7th man rolls + shaved sides
Adding or refraining from long hair is a top trend this year. Adding a bun to the mix underlines this cool combination.
8. Man rolls and beard
Another popular combination is the man’s bread roll and beard. If you can grow all those hairs, go for it.
9. Man rolls + undercut + hair design
An undercut with long hair often shaves the hair deeply, but can go high up too. This cool style has an undercut with geometric hair design down to the ears and full hair pulled up into a tall bun.
10. Man Bun Fade
MENSPIRE Male Image & Grooming
A fade rejuvenates hair from short to the skin. This slight fading raises the hairline all around for clean cut edges when long hair is worn out, and a unique look with a man’s bun.
11. Full man rolls
For really long hair, there are several ways to wear the man’s bun. This version is loosely worn for maximum size, which is especially well balanced by a healthy beard.
12. How to Tie a Man Bun: Wrap Around Style
There are two main ways to make a man roll. This is the more traditional and formal way. Make the hair into a ponytail with your fingers, twist the hair, wrap it around the base of the ponytail and fasten it with a rubber band. Until that feels comfortable, you can also tie the hair into a ponytail before twisting the knot.
13. How to Tie a Man Bun: Pull-Through Method
This is by far the easiest way to carry the man-roll. Start by forming a ponytail and securing the hair with a rubber band. If it is the last turn of the rubber band, pull the hair partially to make a man’s bun. That’s it. This works high, in the middle and down on the head. It will also work for shorter hair than the traditional bun method.
14. Half-Up Pull Through
The man’s bun does not have to contain all the hair. It also looks cool halfway up and half down. This messy surfer style uses the wraparound method, but the loose ends point up instead of down.
15. Messy
As a biker style, the man-roll must certainly not be neat and tidy. Loose strands add to the attractiveness.
16. Long wavy hair
Here is the same guy and hairstyle, but with wavy hair. It’s hard to pick a favorite.
17. Undercut Man rolls
Here is another version of the Undercut Man Bun Style. The hair is shaved all around, creating a new hairline. The style is most dramatic from the side, but is ultra clean cut from the front and back.
18. Half man sandwiches
This half-up style is an easy way to keep long hair out of your face without pulling it all the way back.
19. Dreadlock man rolls
Long dreads can also be styled into a man’s bun. Try to use a cloth headband or tie Locs into a knot.
20. Wavy hair man rolls
Whether it is wavy or curly hair, the texture gives the man-roll something.
21. Low man rolls
The men’s bun can be carried high, low or in the middle of the head. This confident casual look is just above the neck.
